I thought it was the Maserati Grand Turismo model

Letting it rot, then will use the last couple years’ slow sales as justification to axe it with no replacement, just watch.

Man feels like just yesterday was the 350/370 refresh.. ST OP MAKING ME FEEL OLD!

I remember being actually excited when it came out. I had liked the 350z but thought it needed a little refinement.
But they built a car that was too heavy and too much of a GT, cruiser for the sportscar people, but too raw and unrefined for the cruiser crowd.
Yes, we’ll make it a hatch but we’ll put a non-functional crossbar in the trunk that makes it so you can’t fit normal stuff in there.

And the Dodge Caravan model, and the Dodge Journey model, and the Dodge Challenger model, and the Dodge Charger model, and the Chrysler 300...
... Let’s just call it the FCA model.

I drove one once, it was fun in the rain. It was one of the special edition orange ones. It was alright but wasn't standout enough, maybe the 390z or whatever will fix some of the problems

Hey now, give the challenger/charge credit. A few facelifts (charger more so drastic) and a bevy of engine options ranging from rental v6 to I dunno demon and Hellcat(s).
The 370z has 1 engine and has been using that 1 engine for 10 years. A brand new 370z starts at 30k with an engine developed when Miley Cy rus was Partying in the USA and the Black Eyed Peas got the Boom Boom Pow.

Maybe when the GT-R gets a replacement so shall the Z

Chrysler get real weird with that shit. L ike when they “updated” the Wrangler by sticking a seventeen year-old engine in it.

Here’s hoping. The old VQ engines didn’t help. They were rough and fell on their face at high rpm.
It’s like they were trying to make a Japanese version of an early 2000's Mustang.
I wish they went back to a straight 6, but that’ll never happen.
The Z is a bean counter car, not an enthusiast car. I don’t know if they can come back from the brink and build a car with passion.

I think the bigger problem is with Nissan as a whole. They just seem so devoid of any passion. Ask yourself, where does Nissan fit in? What are their strengths?

They’ve had that issue since Ghosen (sp) started making decisions for them in the 2000's.
Nissan, the company that makes all the rental cars that you’re always dis appointed with.

On the other hand, people do buy them, so the model seems to work. FCA could probably stick a Russian ZMZ engine in the Wrangler and it would still sell as fast as they could build them.

Hey now, the 991 came out in 2012

when i was at a local city auto show the only folks standing around the Z had white hair and glasses.
meanwhile the BRZ, civic TR, Focus RS, mustang, all had groups of 16-40 year olds around them.
This seemed to confirm my belief of the only ones I see on the road are older folks or older versions with tacky questionable mods.

One engine is less at issue than a lack of outward or inward refinement of the original car as delivered. Legally required to install a backup camera is not refinement.

whatever happened to the replacement plans that involved Mercedes motors? (not that I really liked that idea...)
I’m really surprised Nissan hasn’t had something new and sporty/zippy given their history has been pretty successful in that arena...

It’s a miracle they move a ny considering they don’t advertise it at all.

Car companies advertise anything other than pickups and crossovers? I don’t watch much TV, but I feel like it’s been ages since I saw any sort of car advertised? Maybe Toyota ran some Prius ads at some point?

Both becoming “ crossovers” because “it’s the only thing that sells”

Counter point.
People complain about how new sports cars are getting to complex (infotainment, a million driving modes, na going they way for turbos, etc). While the 370z is prices a bit high, its a basic sports car enthusiast want, but non will buy.

While my Mustang does have a turbo, it has no infotainment, no selectable drive modes, a limited slip differential, a manual transmission, and big ol brakes from the factory. All while costing much less than a 370Z.
